For the 2021 Auckland Art Fair, Gow Langsford Gallery will be showcasing new works by Graham Fletcher, Grace Wright, Paul Dibble, Gregor Kregar, André Hemer and Dale Frank, alongside preeminent New Zealand artists Colin McCahon and Tony Fomison. Our major highlight will be a sculpture by British Modernist Henry Moore alongside a key work by Frances Hodgkins.

These two masterpieces are rare delights to behold in New Zealand’s art market. The last time an artwork by Henry Moore was exhibited in New Zealand was in 2017, when the Auckland Art Gallery mounted Moore’s life sized Fallen Warrior. To see Mother and Child: Block Seat is a chance for New Zealanders to once again see a work of this quality. Founding Gow Langsford Gallery director John Gow (MNZM) is delighted to present the New Zealand community with the unique opportunity to add works of this calibre to their collection. Of the Moore, he says “this is one of the most significant artworks to ever be exhibited at an Art Fair here in New Zealand, and it is the only work by Henry Moore of this scale in the country.” Furthermore, Gow spoke of Hodgkins’ Christmas Tree as “the most major late-1940s oil painting by Hodgkins. It’s a rare occasion that we can offer New Zealand a work of this quality onto the open market. This is one of the very few major works that is not in a public collection.”
