September 2009 I Situate update

The winner of Situate: An International Sculpture Competition was announced this month.  Gallery artist Paul Dibble narrowly missed out on the commission and was ranked second of the five finalists.  Congratulations to Paul Dibble on this placing and on winning the Popular Vote from the City of Perth.

June 2009 I Paul Dibble announced as finalist for Situate sculpture competition

Paul Dibble has been shortlisted as one of five finalists in the Situate International Sculpture Competition. The commission is part of a major upgrade to the Forrest Place area in Perth, Western Australia. Over two hundred applications were submitted from over thirty countries. The winner will be announced in mid August. 

May 2009 I Paul Dibble Sculpture From Under the Harbour unveiled in Wellington

Paul Dibble has unveiled a major commission in Wellington. Permanently installed in the courtyard of Moore Wilson Fresh on College St. The work celebrates the 1920s discovery of artesian water running under Wellington. The previous proprietor of the Moore Wilson's building Thomson Lewis & Co., used the water source to make fizzy drinks for over fifty years, before Coca Cola purchased the company.

April 2009 I Congratulations to Paul Dibble winner of a New Zealand Institute of Architects 2009 Architecture Award
Paul Dibble and Athfield Architects have been named winners of a New Zealand Institute of Architects 2009 Architecture Awards.  They were awarded the International award for the New Zealand Memorial at Hyde Park Corner, London. The project will now be considered for the New Zealand Architecture Medal, to be announced next month.

The memorial commemorates the enduring relationship between New Zealand and the United Kingdom, and particularly the nations shared sacrifice during times of war.  It is a symbol of common heritage and is permanently installed in Hyde Park.

The work was a major commission involving the New Zealand Ministry of Culture and Heritage, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, New Zealand Defence Force, Veterans Affairs New Zealand the English Heritage and the Westminster City Council.



04. 11. 2008 I Paul Dibble in NZ Sculpture Onshore 
NZ Sculpture OnShore is a biennial exhibition of the work of major New Zealand sculptors. Paul Dibble's work will be displayed at the Fort Takapuna Historic Reserve, a cliff top site overlooking the Hauraki Gulf at Devonport. The works of over 100 New Zealand artists are on public view and for sale during the 10 day exhibition. Funds raised by the exhibition support NZ Women's Refuge.

26.04.08 I Paul Dibble in NZ Today magazine
Paul Dibbles sculpture features on the cover of the latest NZ Today magazine. The issue explores the Manawatu region where Dibble's foundry and residence is based. Paul is due to exhibit new sculpture at the gallery in June in a show entitled Paradise. A catalogue will accompany the exhibition.

Paul Dibble at Art in the Woolshed Exhibition
From the 8 - 16 March 2008  Art in the Woolshed 2008 will exhibit work by Paul Dibble.  Art in the Woolshed is a fundraising exhibition supporting the protection and restoration of Tawharanui Sanctuary.

Paul Dibble I Stoneleigh Sculpture in the Gardens
Paul Dibble's work will feature at the Auckland Botanic Gardens where a major sculpture exhibition will be held in late 2007 and biennially thereafter. "The inaugural exhibition will run for three months, from 4 November 2007 to 31 January 2008. Twenty seven sculptures will be displayed along a trail around 1.7 kilometres in length. The trail wanders through many of the Auckland Botanic Gardens iconic plant collections and around its main lakes - a truly majestic setting.

Paul Dibble Book: 2nd Edition Released

Paul Dibble I Hyde Park memorial, London
In 2005 Paul Dibble and his team were commissioned by the Ministry of Culture & Heritage to create a memorial for Hyde Park in London.  The memorial commemorates the relationship between New Zealand and the UK and serves as a focus of remembrance of the shared sacrifice during the World Wars.  The memorial was unveiled in London on 11 November 2006, in the presence of Her Majesty the Queen and the Prime Minister of New Zealand, Helen Clark.
